VAIL ATHLETIC CLUB, AT THE VAIL MOUNTAIN LODGE & SPA, OFFERS TRAINING FOR TEVA MOUNTAIN GAMES ATHLETES

  1. Six-Week Training Programs For Amateur Athletes Are Tailored To Teva Mountain Games Events

VAIL, Colo. – April 26, 2006 – The Vail Athletic Club (VAC), located in the Vail Mountain Lodge & Spa, is offering area athletes custom tailored training programs for three Teva Mountain Games events. Locals competing in the mountain biking, trail running and climbing competitions can enroll in custom training programs to help them prepare for the events through the month of May.

“We are excited to provide our staff’s expertise in helping locals achieve their goals in the upcoming Teva Mountain Games,” said Shannon Smith, club manager. “Our staff has devised six-week training programs catering to those who compete in the games.”

The VAC is offering the programs for $150 for current members and $250 for guests or non-members. The cost includes the six-week training program, one personal training session establishing goals and individualizing the program, entry fee for the desired event, a Teva Training t-shirt and complete use of the VAC until the end of the Teva Mountain Games.

“I saw this program as a great opportunity to jump start my training for the Teva Mountain Games and provide a foundation for other trail running races this summer,” said VAC member, Anna Rice. “The coaches will help me break down the course and pace myself. They will also help me program a similar course into a treadmill to regulate my conditioning.”

The three training programs include “Climbing Competition Strategy” with Larry Moore, VAC climbing wall manager, “Mountain Bike Skills Workshop” with Mia Stockdale, personal trainer and owner of Vail Mountain Bike Camps and “Run the Course” with Jason Loutitt, Canada’s top mountain runner. Each program includes consultation and a week-by-week training program.

The Vail Athletic Club, in the Vail Mountain Lodge & Spa, is located at 352 East Meadow Drive in Vail Village, a short walk to Vail Mountain. For more information about Teva Training or the Vail Athletic Club call at (970) 476-7960 or email club@vailmountainlodge.com.
