Facts About Booking Last Minute Holiday Vacations to Vail
The growing trend of trying to book last minute luxury vacations over a holiday weekend, expecting top quality accommodations at luxury boutique hotels has been happening a lot lately and frankly is a request that is nearly impossible for popular lodges to fulfill. Vail, Colorado is a popular destination for families who want to come here on their holiday vacations and we love to have you!
We certainly would like to accommodate any guest who calls or emails Vail Mountain Lodge, but we also want our new and returning guests to understand that very rarely will you be able to book last minute accommodations for holiday weekends in winter, especially if your preference is a luxury boutique hotel.
We are sharing this information so you can get the accommodations you want in Vail and have the best vacation possible. We want you to have the Vail experience- we think it’s fantastic.
Why is it important to book your accommodations 4-6 months in advance?
Although Vail Mountain is the largest ski area in North America, the town of Vail is not overflowing with available hotel rooms and condos. We wanted to make Vail the premier ski area so we also made space for community areas, shops, restaurants, bars and access to the mountains and rivers, not just hotel rooms.
Visitors to Vail want the highest quality and most complete ski experience possible. Vail’s luxury boutique hotels & condo complexes, like Tivoli Lodge, Christiania, The Willows, Gastoff Gramshammer, Sitzmark, Austria House, Galaytn Lodge, Solaris and The Lodge Tower, to name a few, have limited rooms. But that is also why they can be luxury and boutique in addition to creating that personal experience our guests want for their Vail vacation.
If you want to visit during particular holiday weekends, it’s best to make all arrangements in October and November. However, you will need to make Christmas and New Year reservations in July.
***Should you receive an email from a property about a lodging special in the winter or summer season you have 2 days max to respond if you want to take advantage of that special.***
Shoulder seasons and off-seasons: the months of April (after the mountain closes), May, June, October and November, offer more availability and you have more time to respond to get your requests. Those are spectacular times to visit Vail if you are looking for something other than skiing.
At Vail Mountain Lodge, we have the on-site amenity of the Vail Vitality Center Club and Spa where we create packages not necessarily dependent on weather. We give guests the options of yoga, stress management, and mindfulness retreats. All can be done inside, but if the weather is good- we can utilize the outdoors.
The Spa is a fantastic retreat and a perfect off-season getaway. We run specials on our therapeutic treatments, and the restaurants and shops in town offer specials and sales.
The point of this post is to let you know… if you want those holiday weeks and weekends during the ski seasons book in October and November.
Book Christmas and New Years, for sure, in July.
For the summer weeks and weekends in July and August, book in April and at the latest May.
I recommend that you book for September in June at the latest. The fall experience in Vail is short but amazing!
